Who am I?
Welcome, my name is Thomas Collins.
This site aims to collect together the various individual and professional projects, web sites and applications I have been involved with.
What do I do?
I currently work as a freelance interactive developer.
This page contains examples of my programming and design work developing both server and client side solutions for clients including the BBC, S4Ci and Golley Slater.
Skills & Education
I graduated from Cardiff University with a 2:1 degree in Computer Science (BSc) in the summer of 2002.
Since then the majority of my professional work has involved the development of bespoke content management solutions for numerous projects. These systems have enabled clients to take control of the content of their websites, games and multimedia applications through intuative browser-based applications.
I have also been responsible for delivering numerous public facing dynamic, often multi-lingual, websites for small to medium sized projects.
I have 5 years of professional experience with technologies including PHP, MySQL, XML, HTML/XHTML/CSS.
I am also a highly competent Macromedia Flash developer with a wide variety of experience in developing Flash based website's, games and applications. Including a detailed understanding of Flash Remoting and integration with server-side scripts, applications and databases.
I appreciate current and emerging technologies, best-practicises and trends in both design and content. I strive to stay up-to-date with recommended and legal requirements and accesibility guidelines. I also attempt to comply with validation schemes such as W3C and Bobby where applicable.
I have a keen passion for usability, interaction and motion design believeing that these are some of the more over-looked aspects of softare design and development.
